AUBURN – The teams that won the battle of the boards wound up taking Friday’s high school basketball games in Auburn.
Fairbury (8-6) outrebounded Auburn (10-4), 16-7, on their way to an overtime win, 47-39. Sophomore Ellie Ohlde scored 13 points and junior Sara Huss added 12. The Bulldogs were led by the 15 points by senior Ashley Teten.
In the boys game, Class C1 No. 6 Auburn (12-1) cruised to a 72-36 victory. The Bulldogs owned the boards, 18-9. Junior Josh Lambert had a game-high 24 points. Sophomore Cam Binder added 17. Junior Chance Amundson was the lone Fairbury (4-9) player in double figures at 11.
The games were moved up an hour and a half due to snow in the forecast.
Both Bulldog teams travel to Conestoga on Saturday, while the Jeffs host Clay Center, Kan.
