VIRGINIA COUPLE WINS NORTH AMERICAN WIFE CARRYING CHAMPIONSHIP

It may not be a skill a husband needs to use often, but it might be good to be able to carry your wife. A couple from Lexington, Virginia won the annual North American Wife Carrying Championship contest in Maine. The contest requires men carry their wives (usually on their backs and shoulders) through an obstacle course. Jake and Kristen Barney were last year’s runner-ups, and came out on top at Saturday’s (October 7th) events with a time of 58.26 seconds. For their effort they received 12 cases of beer, and five times Kristen’s weight in cash– a total of $630.
