Omaha Man Shoots Finger While Asleep

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — It’s pretty impressive if a person is said to be able to hit a target with a pistol in his sleep. Not so impressive — to be able to hit something random in his sleep. Police in Omaha, Nebraska say a man is facing charges after shooting himself in the pinky after falling asleep holding his newly-purchased handgun. The Omaha World-Herald reports this happened Tuesday, when a 30-year-old man dozed off while packing heat. The heat apparently unpacked itself — and the man took a bullet to his little finger. The wound required surgery to repair. Adding insult to injury — in this case literally — police cited the man for having an unregistered firearm and for unlawful discharge of a firearm.
