Naked, intoxicated burglar accidentally called 911 on himself

Officers described Weaver as "naked and clearly under the influence of a controlled substance."

A man was arrested on burglary charges after police say he accidentally called 911 from inside a building he broke into.

Police in Ephrata PA were dispatched at 4:12 a.m. Tuesday to the Ephrata Review building on East Main Street for a report of a 911 hang-up call.

Officers arrived and found a glass door of the building smashed. Upon searching the building, officers found 28-year-old Brendan Alan Waver, of Ephrata, in a hallway, according to police.

Officers described Weaver as “naked and clearly under the influence of a controlled substance.”

The office area of the building was reportedly ransacked, with damages estimated in excess of $5,000. Police believe Weaver accidentally called 911 from an office phone as he ransacked the building.

Weaver will be arraigned on burglary charges sometime on Tuesday.
