Police in New Orleans, Louisiana, said that Glen Alveris randomly shot the woman who was walking her dog to show his girlfriend how “crazy” he could be, according to reports.
Alveris initially got away with the shooting until he had another fight with his 20-year-old girlfriend and ended up stabbing her several times.
While being interrogated, the girlfriend told police that Alveris threatened her after the two got into an argument while in their car over how she had danced with another man at a party.
She said that Alveris pulled out a gun and threatened to kill her. He then said: “I’m going to show you how crazy I am” before reportedly shooting at the woman who was walking her dog.
The 54-year-old victim was walking her dog with a man when she was shot in the left leg. Alveris drove off and was not caught until he stabbed his girlfriend.
He was charged with second-degree battery and domestic abuse battery for the assault of his girlfriend and aggravated battery in connection with the shooting.
Prosecutors said that at the time of the shooting, Alveris was out on $10,000 bond for aggravated assault with a firearm.
He is now being held without bond until his next court appearance.
