Two hospitalized after being assaulted with baseball bat

LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police are investigating after two people were assaulted with a baseball bat by a man staying at their home.

Officers contacted the 35-year-old male and the 36-year-old female victims at Bryan East around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night, authorities said.

They told officers a 49-year-old who was staying with them assaulted them with a baseball bat, and wouldn’t let them leave the home.

Eventually, the suspect drove the victims in the direction of the hospital, but refused to let them out of the car. The victims, however, were able to jump out of the vehicle when it came to a stop and ran to the hospital.

Both victims sustained bruises and abrasions, according to police.

A search warrant was obtained for the home where the assault occurred, and authorities are still examining the scene.

However, police said they have a possible suspect in mind.
