Ravenna woman killed in two-vehicle crash

PLEASANTON, Neb.– The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what led up to a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead and another injured.

The accident happened north of Pleasanton at the intersection of Highway 10 and 340th Road, around 6:15 p.m. Thursday. The Sheriff’s Office said Nancy Jackson, 66, of Ravenna, died at the scene and James Psota, 51, of Ord was injured.

According to preliminary investigation, a 2007 Mazda SUV driven by Jackson was traveling westbound on 340th Rd approaching Highway 10. A 2013 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Psota was northbound on Highway 10. The two vehicles collided at the intersection. The driver of the Mazda died at the scene; the driver of the pickup truck was transported to Kearney CHI Good Samaritan Hospital. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

Members of the Kearney Police Department, Buffalo County Attorney’s Office, and Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department, Paramedics of the CHI Good Samaritan Health Systems, Buffalo County Chaplains Corp, Nebraska State Patrol and Buffalo County Highway Department assisted at the scene.

The intersection was closed for approximately four hours as deputies and members of the Kearney/Buffalo County accident reconstruction team were at the scene.

The Buffalo County Attorney has ordered an autopsy and the investigation is continuing.
