LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Leadership Education Action Development (LEAD) Program began 35 years ago to develop agricultural leaders from Nebraska’s future generations.
The constant changes that occur in agricultural policy, marketing, economics and technology point to the need for strong leaders to advocate for the heart of Nebraska’s economy: agriculture.
Applications are now being accepted for LEAD Group 37, which will begin this fall.
Program Director Dr. Terry Hejny says they are looking for men and women between the ages of 25 and 50 who are passionate about agriculture.
“We’re going to make them better communicators and that’s going to be better speakers, but also better listeners. Today’s leaders need to listen, because if they don’t they might turn around and there’s no one following them. They don’t need to have this long laundry list of things that they’ve done or accomplished. We’re looking for those people that are ready to start that leadership journey of personal and professional development.”
The application deadline is June 15. Find more information at lead.unl.edu.
