LINCOLN, Neb. — During the month of December, 20 people were killed in traffic
crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
These 20 fatalities occurred in 18 crashes, and 16 of the 19 vehicle occupants killed were not using safety belts.
Six fatalities occurred on the interstate, eight were on other highways, and six took place on local roads.
One of the fatalities was a pedestrian.
Nine of the fatalities occurred in single vehicle run-off-road crashes, and twelve of the fatalities occurred in rural locations.
