You could thank the Nebraska State Patrol for the springlike weather that finally will be arriving in the area this week.
Like the rest of us, the patrol is fed up with all the cold and snow, so it “arrested” winter.
A playful post on the patrol’s Facebook page shows a photo of a trooper pretending to put cuffs on a man with the word “winter” his back.
Apparently, people can relate to the patrol’s frustration with this seemingly never-ending winter. The post has received more than 3,000 likes and has been shared more than 2,500 times.
Cody Thomas, a patrol spokesman, said he got the idea for the fun photo after he found out Friday that it was snowing in Bartlett, Nebraska, where troopers were providing safety training to staff at Wheeler Central Public Schools.
The troopers asked school superintendent Rod Olson if he would play winter for the photo, and he was game.
Folks had fun in their comments on the post, with one person telling the patrol to lock up winter and “throw away the key.”
The National Weather Service is calling for temperatures in the 60s and 70s by midweek. There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday and even a possible return of snow Saturday .
As at least a few people pointed out on Facebook, winter must have an accomplice.
