‘American Idol’ auditions are coming to Omaha
World-Herald News Service

“American Idol” will return to TV next year, and the show will visit Omaha this summer to find its next singing star.

The singing competition, which ran for 15 seasons on Fox, will return to air on ABC in 2018.

“American Idol” will host in-person auditions in 19 cities, including a stop in Omaha on Aug. 29.

It’s the third time the city has hosted auditions. Season seven winner David Cook auditioned in Omaha in 2007. Auditions also were held in Omaha in the summer of 2013.

Singers can also submit audition videos online at americanidol.com or tag videos with #TheNextIdol on their social media accounts including Twitter, Instagram and Musical.ly.

The 15th and supposedly final season of “American Idol” ended last year. The show launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson, among others.

The new season will feature pop star Katy Perry as a judge.
