Tobias G. Fritzen, 102, formerly of Diller, died Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. He was born June 5, 1916 at rural Filley and attended Logan Center Country School. He married Clara Trauernicht on February 5, 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and they lived and farmed in the Filley area until moving to rural Diller in 1951. They moved into Diller in 1968 and he moved to the Kensington in Beatrice in 2015. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Diller. He enjoyed following the harvest crew and his grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include two sons, Marion Fritzen and wife Sherilyn of Diller and Roger Fritzen and wife Terri of Lincoln; Judy Weers of Diller; four grandchildren; Todd Fritzen, Amy Schroeder and husband Chad, Jason Fritzen and wife Lynelle and Jeff Fritzen and wife Kalynn; nine great-grandchildren, Bailey, T.J. and Tatum Schroeder, Finley, Sutton, Brieeley, Blakely, Kennedy and Savannah Fritzen; brothers, Lenhart Fritzen and wife Helen and LaVern Fritzen and wife Irene all of Beatrice; sister, Angeline Johnson of Beatrice; sisters-in-law, Arlene Kelle, Leona Trauernicht and Dena Tauernicht all of Beatrice; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lammert and Bertha Paben Fritzen; his wife Clara who died February 4, 2001; an infant son, Greg; a daughter, Shirleen Weers and husband Richard; brothers, John Fritzen and wife Bernice, and Raymond Fritzen and wife Joyce; sister, Marie Stevens and husband Jack; brothers-in-law, Walter Johnson, Herman Williams and Freddie Roschewski.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday at the American Lutheran Church of Filley with Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating. Burial will be at the Filley Cemetery of Filley. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. at the church on Monday. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
