Shirley Ann Yockel, age 81 of Wymore passed away on April 17, 2017 at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln. She was born in Rulo, Nebraska on November 22, 1935 to Otho and Mary (Zimmerman) Arnold. Shirley graduated from Wymore High School in 1953 and worked as an administrative assistant for Wymore Cable Company. On October 6, 1956, she married Fred Yockel. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and traveling, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Fred; children, Rhondi Clifford and husband Eric of Odell, Lori Yockel of Beatrice, Denise Richard of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lynn Oltman of Beatrice, and Daniel Yockel and wife Sheri of Wymore; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Richard Arnold and wife Darlene of Grand Island; sisters-in-law Judy Arnold of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jackie Saudiff and husband Dale of Maple Valley, Washington, and Carol Wilson of Beatrice; brother-in-law, Bob Poutre and wife JoAnn of Lincoln; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Polly Yockel; sister, Joyce Adams; brothers, Darrell and Larry Arnold; and sisters-in-law Joan Wilson and Chery Poutre.
Friends and family will gather to remember Shirley at the Blue Springs Fire Hall on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Casual attire is requested. A memorial has been established to Wymore EMS with the family in charge. Sign Shirley’s online register book at www.ghchapel.com.
