Rozella Mae Prellwitz 86 of Fairbury NE, formerly of Reynolds, left her earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior on June 18, 2018 at Gardenside Long Term Care surrounded by her family. She was born May 20, 1932 in Reynolds to Carl and Esther (Oerter) Michels.
She was baptized June 12, 1932 at Trinity Lutheran Church west of Gladstone, and confirmed November 2, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury. “Mae” as many people called her, graduated from Reynolds High School in 1950 as class valedictorian. She graduated from Fairbury Junior College in 1952 with a teaching degree and went on to teach 3rd and 4th grade at Davenport, NE for the next three years.
On May 29, 1956 she was united in marriage to Leonard L. Prellwitz at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Fairbury. They lived on a farm east of Mahaska, KS for the first year of their marriage, and then moved to Reynolds where they lived out their married life. Rozella continued to live in Reynolds after Len’s death in 2007 until she moved to Gardenside. To this union four children were born – Randy, Linda, Jeff, and Jill.
Rozella was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church since 1957, and was an active member in the church choir for over 30 years. She was a devoted wife and mother. She felt the greatest gift in life was her children and grandchildren, and attended as many of their activities as possible. She instilled in them her faith in God, her Christian values and a strong work ethic.
Later on Rozella provided childcare for families in the Reynolds area, and worked for Reynolds Public School as a teacher’s aide. She was a past president and PTA member for the school, and she served several years on the Rose Creek Cemetery Board. She also served many years on the election board in Reynolds and then later in Fairbury as well.
She is survived by her sons Randy (Mary) Prellwitz of Fairbury, Jeff (Amy) Prellwitz of Lincoln, and daughters Linda (Bob) Lowe of Lincoln, and Jill Lothson of Lincoln. Grandchildren and great grandchildren Nate (Nikki) Prellwitz and Logan of Omaha, Eric (Emily) Prellwitz and Brodie & Jaycee of Fairbury, Mandi Lowe and Gunner, Brett Lowe, Jordan Prellwitz, Allison (Austin) Fischer and Taylor Lothson all of Lincoln and Brandon Prellwitz and Olivia of Norfolk.
Preceding her in death, her husband of 51 years Leonard, parents Carl and Esther Michels, brothers Marvin Michels and Dale Michels, her in-laws Julius and Mary Prellwitz, and great grandson Max Prellwitz.

Services will be at 10:30 am Friday June 22, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fairbury. Rosary  will be at 7:00 pm Thursday June 21st at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Burial will be at Rose Creek Cemetery – Reynolds, NE.
