Robert M. Roberts Sr., 82, of Wymore passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday morning, April 18, 2017 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. He was born on November 5, 1934 at Barneston, NE to Evelyn (Bryant) Roberts. Robert and Rosaline Vater were married on July 13, 1957, and to this union 8 children were born. He attended Wymore High School until the 11th grade when he dropped out to join the Navy. Robert served his country in the United States Navy from November 6, 1951 until September 30, 1974, serving on the USS Roosevelt during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Bob enjoyed fishing, pool, gardening, football, cards and had many fish fry’s on Super Bowl days. He will be greatly missed by his vast family and friends.
Survivors include children Laurie Lamb, Wymore, Robin Roberts, Beatrice, Kay and husband Rodney Bohlmeyer, Blue Springs, Robert Roberts Jr. and wife Sharon, Wymore, Evelyn Roberts and friend Tom Reagan, Wymore, Marilyn and husband Daryl Linkugel, Marysville, KS, Mike Roberts, Wymore, and Phillip Roberts, Blue Springs; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 2 sisters Marilyn Samuelson, Wymore, and Judy Humphreys and husband Eugene, Odell; sister in law Hazel Bigham, Wymore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Roberts; Wife Rosaline Roberts (1988); grandson Justin Roberts; sister Phyllis Stroemer; and brothers Gene, Melvin, and Larry Roberts.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore with Jon Palmquist officiating. Burial of ashes at the Bethel Cemetery near Wymore. Visitation will be from 1-8:00 PM Sunday at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore with the family greeting friends from 2-4:00 PM.
