Richard Louis Tuma, son of Louis and Lillie (Goebel) Tuma, was born July 1, 1929 in Mahaska, KS. He passed away July 7, 2018 at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, NE at the age of 89.
Richard was raised on a farm south of Fairbury, by Rose Creek and was united in marriage to Ruth (Cunningham) Tuma on May 27, 1950. After serving time in the Army during the Korean War, Richard and Ruth moved to a farm north of Morrowville, Kansas in 1954, where they had a dairy for many years. Richard loved farming and taking care of the soil. Richards favorite pastime included trapping and fishing, which he enjoyed his entire life.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, George Wurm.
His survivors include his wife, Ruth Tuma, of the home; Son, Robert (Amy) Tuma of Morrowville, KS; Daughter, RoseAnn (Patrick) Zach of Morrowville, KS; Grandsons, Trent Tuma of Morrowville, Justin Tuma and Jessie Tuma, both of California; Granddaughters, Brooke Tuma and Rebecca Zach both of Morrowville; Sisters, LouAnn Wurm and Patsy Tuma of Fairbury, NE; and brother-in-law, James (Patricia) Cunningham of Fairbury.
Services will be held Thursday, July 12 at 10:30 am at the First United Presbyterian Church in Fairbury with Pastor Ron Brown officiating. The Family will greet friends Wednesday, July 11 from 5-7 pm at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Burial to take place in the Mahaska Cemetery.
