Richard Lee Schoenrock was born July 16, 1929 in Fairbury, NE and passed away on August 13, 2018. He was the only child born to Julius and Leva (Witt) Schoenrock.
He attended grade school in rural Jefferson County and graduated from Fairbury Highschool in 1947. On April 9, 1950 he married Helen Eilts. Richard was employed at Brown Shoe Fit Co. until his father’s death in 1953. They moved to the farm where he began farming full time. Richard also worked in the winter for Roode’s Packing Co. and Junker’s Meats. He took great pride in his cattle herd and his crops. He won several yield awards and was proud to hand over the farming operation to his son and grandson. However, his concern for the farm never left him as he still provided lots of advice.
He was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion East Gladstone Church. Richard served faithfully as an elder and deacon many times and loved his church family.
Richard enjoyed sports of all kinds especially baseball and Husker football. He was a pitcher for the local softball team. Another past time he enjoyed was playing cards with his buddies. He was always interested in aviation and flew his own plane for a short time. Richard was also a lifetime member of the Fairbury Elks Lodge.
Richard is survived by his daughter Cynthia and husband Frank Demers, and son, Raymond and wife Denise Schoenrock, four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Grandchildren include Corey Schoenrock, Carey Jacobs and husband Bryan, Diane Daiker and husband Ron, and Sarah Lytle and husband Brent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Helen, step-father (Charles Kapke), and two step brothers (Darrell and Dwight Kapke) and infant twin great-grandsons (John Paul and Benedict Joseph Daiker).
The family would like to thank the staff at Cedarwood Assisted Living and Jefferson Community Health & Life for their excellent care.
