Marvin D. Parrack, 76, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Fairbury, Nebraska. He was born December 17, 1941 at Hebron, Nebraska to Louis and Velva (Peake) Parrack.
Marvin grew up with his loving family near Mahaska, Kansas. He attended Mahaska Grade School and Mahaska High School, graduating in 1960. He was a lifelong member of Mahaska Presbyterian church. His childhood was filled with the love of farming and many special times spent with extended family.
After high school Marvin attended Fairbury Junior College, then Kansas State University, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Education. While still in college at K-State, Marvin bought a farm southeast Mahaska, thus beginning his own farming operation.
Marvin taught Vocational Ag and was an FFA advisor in Osborne, Kansas following graduation. It was there in Osborne, that he met the beautiful Elaine Hake. Marvin and Elaine were married June 1, 1968 and to this union two daughters were born, Karrie and Sara.
In 1972, Marvin and Elaine moved back to Mahaska to begin their full-time farming operation. Working side by side, they produced hogs, sheep, cattle and crops until their retirement in 2008. Even after retirement, farming was still on the forefront of their lives. Besides farming, Marvin had many entrepreneurial interests. He operated a saw mill, did custom hay grinding, and was a Cargill seed dealer over the years. Marvin loved semis and all things big-rig related. His dream of owning and driving his own big-rig was realized later in life. He enjoyed the few years that he did custom hauling in his Peterbilt until he was no longer able to drive due to health.
Marvin enjoyed and excelled at woodworking. His precision and attention to detail were evident in everything from his woodworking to perfectly planted rows in his fields.
Marvin served many decades on the Union Township board, was a dedicated North Central school board member, Mahaska Merrymakers member and leader, Mahaska Presbyterian church elder, Mahaska city council member and mayor.
Marvin was a very good and loving “Pappy”. His grandchildren were a source of great joy and pride.
He is survived by his daughters, Karrie Peterson and her husband, Greg. Sara Stewart and her husband, Judd. Grandchildren; Ashley Peterson, Eric Peterson, Delainey Stewart, Riley Stewart and Morgan Stewart. Marvin is also lovingly remembered by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Elaine; brother, Dean Parrack; sister, Karen Bohlken.

Memorial services will be Friday May 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church at Mahaska, KS. The family will greet friends Thursday May 24 from 5 to 8 pm at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Memorials to the Mahaska Community Center or Presbyterian Church.
