Marion A. “Jack” Craig, age 84 of Wymore passed away on January 4, 2017 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. He was born on January 24, 1932 in Wymore to Enis “Slim” and Thelma (Creek) Craig. He attended school at Wymore Elementary and District 89 Country School near Odell. Jack served his country in the United States Army from September 18, 1954 to September 17, 1957 and several years in the Army Reserves. During his service, he was stationed in South Korea for 12 months as a Platoon Sergeant and was also a Field Sergeant at Fort Riley. Jack married Patricia Neuman on December 26, 1956. In his younger years, Jack worked for various farmers in southern Gage County. He spent 28 years working for the cable company in Beatrice and Wymore, and also 4 years working maintenance and driving the bus for Southern Public Schools before retiring. He was a member of the Anderson Post #25, American Legion in Wymore, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Wymore Presbyterian Church. Jack enjoyed boating, fishing, coon hunting, and dancing. He pitched for a fast pitch softball league and loved doing small engine repair. Most of all, Jack loved his family. His ornery teasing will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his children, Jack Craig and fiancé Twila of Lincoln, Sue Wymore and husband Randy of Beatrice, Ron Craig and wife Cheri of Beatrice, Jodi Johnsen and husband Terry of Pickrell, and Duane Craig and wife Lisa of Beatrice; grandchildren, Bryce Craig, Paton Heusinkvelt, Jessica Craig, April Saathoff, Nic Saathoff, Jessica (Hank) Bartenbach, Ashton (Dylan) Popple, Schuylar Craig, Chelsea (Patrick) Krebs, Mallory (Jordon) Zach, Haley Johnson, Chloe Craig, Travis (Kendra) Sand, and Tyler Sand and fiancé Allison Clark; great grandchildren, Rylie Saathoff, Jenna Saathoff, Cameron and Naomi Bartenbach, Ellis Popple, and Emmett Sand; brother, Larry Craig; sister Betty Jo Stevens and husband Sam; special friend, Lila Rees and her children Deb (Gale) Andrew, Dianne (Lennie) Lahman, and Dawn Connelly; grandchildren, Tyson and Rachel Andrew, rees and Stacy Lahman, Dani and Zach Pinckney, Josh Connelly, Letti Connelly; and great grandchildren Alexa and Tony Andrew, Elliott and Parker Lahman, and Robert, Kyle and Josie Pinkney. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia on February 20, 2003, his parents, and his sister, Dorothy Ralston.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Wymore Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jim McNeal officiating. Burial will be at the Wymore Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by United States Army and Anderson Post #25, American Legion in Wymore. The body will lie in state on Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M., and in state at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
