Larry E. Whitehead, 82, of Beatrice formerly of Fairbury, died at the Nebraska Heart Institute on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. He was born October 29, 1936 in Lincoln. He was married for a time and two sons, Lanny and Scott Luksik of Texas were born of this marriage. He served in the Nebraska National Guard Reserves. He worked at Lincoln Co-op Elevators for a time, worked as a mechanic and service attendant at Phillips 66 of Beatrice, drove a truck for Coors Distributing of Beatrice and delivered anhydrous tanks for Pickrell Co-op. He also worked for the Beatrice Inn and the Fairbury Public Library as a maintenance person. He married Linda Kay McKibben on May 29, 1968 at Centenary United Methodist Church of Beatrice.
Survivors include his sons, Lanny and Scott Luksik of Texas; his daughter, Kimberly Reiber and husband Michael of Beatrice; three grandchildren, Brandon Kelly of Pennsylvania and Courtney Bristor of Delaware and Jamie Reiber of Beatrice; great-granddaughter, Nova Lynn; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Bethel Heckathorn Whitehead; his wife, Linda Whitehead; his son, Kelly Whitehead; one sister, Beverly Schenk.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice with Rev. David A. Bigley officiating. A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 12:00 noon to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon on Thursday.
