Keith C. Searcey, 86, of Beatrice died at Beatrice Health and Rehab Center on Thursday, October 11, 2018. He was born April 12, 1932 at Armour, NE to Clair and Lillie Mae (Snider) Searcey and graduated from Beatrice High School and Wentworth Military Academy. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He married Ruth Keedy on August 29, 1953 and they lived in Virginia, NE where he started his farming career and raising purebred Hereford cattle. He was a member of the Liberty Christian Church, where he was actively involved as a leader of the youth group. He was a member of Virginia American Legion Fisher Post #367. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities, bus trips to the casino, playing cards, square dancing, fishing, coon, coyote and deer hunting.
He is survived by a son, Scott (Darlene) Searcey of Rushford, MN; a daughter, Linda Searcey of Virginia, NE; six grandchildren, Caden Searcey, Ron Lantz, Jr., Jeremy (Stephanie) Hill, Lacey Hill and fiancé Dallas Shufeldt, Tiffany (Aaron) Robertson and Cara Lantz; ten great-grandchildren, Taven Borcher, Rhetlee Keith Shufeldt, Callan Shufeldt, Madisyn Shufeldt, Aubrie Hill, Madyson Hill, Jaxon Hill, Rylan Gill, Lily Robertson and Owen Robertson; brother-in-law, John (Sharon) Keedy of Wymore, NE; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Lillie; wife, Ruth, who died September 30, 2005; son, Brian, who died November 19, 2002; parents-in-law, William and Margaret Keedy; brother-in-law, William Eugene Keedy.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Jon Palmquist officiating. Inurnment of the cremains for both Keith and Ruth will be at the Liberty Cemetery of Liberty, NE. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice. Cremation has taken place. There will be no viewing. A register book will be available for signatures from 12:00 Noon Sunday until time of services on Monday.
