Jordan Dean Murphy, age 24 of Pawnee City, formerly of Wymore, passed away on September 15, 2018. He was born on March 29, 1994 in Beatrice to Jeff and Kelli (Maxson) Murphy. Jordan was a 2012 graduate of Southern High School and graduated from Peru State College with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. He completed his student teaching at Freeman School District and was currently employed at Pawnee City High School where he taught P.E. and was a football and basketball coach. Jordan loved anything related to sports. He was a huge KU basketball fan along with being a fan of the Huskers, Dallas Cowboys, and the Lakers. He enjoyed coaching kids of all ages, especially his high school basketball and football teams and spending time camping, boating, and being surrounded by his friends. Jordan touched the lives of countless people with a smile that could light up an entire room.
Left to mourn his passing are his parents, Jeff and Kelli Murphy of Wymore; brother, Trevor Murphy and wife Kasey of Odell; sister, Mariah Murphy and special friend Trevin Saathoff of Wymore; nephew & niece, Cash and Tenlee Murphy of Odell; grandparents, Lyle and Carol Maxson of Blue Springs, and Geri Vanderfeltz and Bruce Vittetoe of Wymore; aunts and uncles, Jay (Jeannine) Murphy of Beatrice, Jacque (Paul) Borzekofski of Wymore, Jonna (Dustin) Adams of Wymore, Brent (Emalee) Maxson of Blue Springs, and Joel Maxson of Exeter; cousins, Ben (Taylor), Courtney, Peyton, and Carter Murphy, Kodi, Megan, Zach, and Carson Borzekofski, Drake, Brock, Paxx, and Maverick Adams, Hadlee and Reeve Maxson, and Jake, Jalen, Jarett, Sean and Seth Maxson; several great aunts and uncles and a host of extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Vanderfeltz and JD Murphy; great grandparents, Arnold and Lorene Zimmerman and June Filtz; uncle, Mark Maxson; aunt, Jayna Murphy; and cousin, Nichole Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wymore with Pastor Suzanne How officiating. Burial will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6-8 PM and in state and at the church Thursday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a charitable donation to be made in Jordan’s memory at a later date with the funeral home in charge.
