Jean E. Agena, 91, of Adams died at the Good Samaritan Society in Syracuse on Monday, September 11, 2017. She was born February 18, 1926 in Gage County at the home of her parents Caryl and Myrtle (Wise) Perry. She graduated from Adams High School. She married Edgar Agena, son of Bernard and Lena Walters Agena of Sterling. They farmed near Adams, lived in Klamath Falls, OR and then Rapid City, SD. In 1982, they moved “Home” to Adams, where she worked in the grocery store and the library. She loved to read, do crafts and feed the birds and squirrels. She also enjoyed being with family and learning about family history.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Edgar Agena; her parents; one sister, Marjorie May; one son, Caryl “Butch” Agena. She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Winkler and husband Steve of Syracuse and Sandra Felmet of Vale, NC; one son, John Agena and wife Sallie of Syracuse; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Agena of Hooper; one brother-in-law, Alvin May; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside inurnment services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Highland Cemetery of Adams. There will be no visitation. www.foxfuneralhome.net Fox Funeral Home of Adams is in charge of the arrangements.
