Eldon W. Wallman, 82, of Beatrice, died Friday night, October 19, 2018 at the Beatrice Community Hospital. He was born on October 20, 1935 at rural Adams. He attended Olney Country School, graduated from Filley High School in 1954, and served in the National Guard from 1954 – 1962. He married Lorene Parde on May 26, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and farmed for many years. He was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, sang in the Men’s Choir, and served on the church council and as Sunday School Superintendent. He also was a member of the Hartzell School Board. He enjoyed their card club, Husker football, baseball and softball, having coffee with friends, and especially his family .
Survivors include his wife, Lorene of Beatrice; son, Paul (Steph) Wallman of Pickrell; three daughters, Susan (Kenny) Newman of Beatrice, Cindy (Paul) Jurgens of Filley, and Jackie Higgins of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren, Grant Higgins and special friend Madelyn Dezort, Amber Jurgens and special friend Nathan Payne, Shannon (Jason) Hoffman, Sammie (Brian) Garton, Jordan (Bob) Freeman, Shea (Isaiah) Reece, Anna Jurgens and special friend Kurt Siebert, and Marlene Matzky; 12 great-grandchildren, Preston Jurgens, Ethan Weaver, Case Jurgens, Skye Jurgens, Henry Garton, Kyler Hoffman, Millie Garton, Kinsley Hoffman, Ellis Freeman, Gus Garton, Avilene Reece, and Claire Freeman; two sisters, Mildred Fossler of Beatrice and Phyllis (Ron) Lahm of Omaha; brother-in-law, Ernest (Dorothy) Parde of Beatrice; sister-in-law, Mildred (Lawrence) Meints of Beatrice; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilke and Dena Parde Wallman; son-in-law, Scott Higgins; sister, Dorothy Oltman and husband Edward; brother-in-law, John Fossler; parents-in-law, John and Anna Parde.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Pastor Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A memorial has been established to Zion Lutheran Church with Larry and Shirleen Miller in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Wednesday. www.foxfuneralhome.net Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
