Douglas L. Freitag, 52, of Beatrice passed away at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation on May 14, 2018. He was born October 9, 1965 at Fairbury. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury and confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Fairbury. He graduated from Fairbury High School in 1984. He worked for Petersen’s gas station and car wash in Fairbury for many years before moving to Beatrice where he worked at Beatrice Recycling Center. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and went on many guided fishing tours with his father.
He will lovingly be remembered by his father, Darrel, of Beatrice; sisters, Kim Stephens, of Winston-Salem, NC and Kris Pishny and her husband John of Fairbury; nephew, Nathan Stephens and his fiancée, Emalie Linder, of Winston-Salem; nieces, Heather Stephens and Michaela Bowles and her husband, Zach all of Winston-Salem, and Emily Garcia and her husband, Miguel, of Dodge; great-niece, Valaina Bowles of Winston-Salem, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marge; brother-in-law, Jack Stephens, and his grandparents, George and Edith Freitag and Edgar and Pearle Schultz.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, May, 19, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery of Diller at 9:30 A.M. Saturday. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 A.M. at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.
