Manes, Jr. was born on July 4, 1968.  Well before he could understand, Dorothy held her little boy on her lap while she taught him reading, writing and arithmetic, which was a great benefit to his education later on.   She was very proud of her Czech heritage and had received her 75 year pin from the Western Bohemian Fraternal Organization.
