Donna R. Knoche, 89 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center Wednesday morning, August 15, 2018. She was born on March 11, 1929 in Crab Orchard, NE to Charles and Ida (Vokach) Kunc. Donna obtained her bachelor’s degree in education and a masters degree in special education from the University of Nebraska, and a masters degree in school administration from Northern Illinois University. Donna and Keith Knoche were married in 1953. Donna dedicated over 54 years of her life educating children at Virginia, NE (1948-1954), Wymore, NE (1954-1961), Beatrice, NE (1961-1966), Plainfield, IL (1967-1981), and Southern High School in Wymore (1985-2005). She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beatrice and enjoyed decorating for the church seasons, serving at Warren’s Community Dinner Table, and serving at social hour following church services. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teacher’s sorority, the Retired Teachers Association, and the Rebekah Lodge. Donna enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading, Christmas, Husker sports (especially football and volleyball), and spoiling her grandsons Kyle and Spencer.
Survivors include her husband Keith; son Steve Knoche and wife Glenda of Virginia, NE; grandsons Kyle and Spencer Knoche of Virginia, NE; brothers and sisters in law Lloyd Knoche of Bakersfield, CA, Darlene Kunc of Beatrice, Larry and Carolyn Baker of Alexandria, VA, and Virginia Kunc of Lincoln; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 8 brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 20, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Beatrice with Reverend Douglas Hileman officiating. Inurnment will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery. Public visitation will be held Sunday from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with the family greeting friends from 2-4:00 PM. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 AM Monday at the church. A memorial has been established to the church with Andy and Lynn Carothers in charge.
