Connie Lee (Hochstedler) Reiber, 76 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln Sunday afternoon, December 16, 2018. She was born on March 4, 1942 in Burchard to Keith and Maudie (McGinnis) Hochstedler. Connie graduated from Beatrice High School and received her associate’s degree in accounting from Southeast Community College in Beatrice. Connie and Richard Reiber were married on October 3, 1959 in Beatrice. They had 5 children and later divorced.

Connie was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and a member of the Women of Today, Blue Valley Community Action and Women for Racing. She was a volunteer at Heartland Share & Prairie Land Food. Connie was employed at Mid State School Bus (previously known as First Student and Laid Law) for over 25 years. She grew up in a truck driving family, obtaining her CDL and began truck driving for her parents (K&M Trucking) as well as managing several of the company businesses.

Connie enjoyed bowling, quilting, painting, skating, attending Beatrice Speedway races including driving in the Powder Puff races, going to craft shows, traveling, horses and her animals, and spending quality time with her family.

Survivors include her daughters Deborah Joyce and Cindy Reiber; son Michael Reiber and wife Kim, all of Beatrice; granddaughters Tabitha Day-Joyce, Jamie Reiber & Cammeran Vetter, Brittney and Ashley Reiber, Skylar Reiber, and Heidi Mahloch; grandson James Reiber, Courtney & Brandon; and 12 great grandchildren. Connie was known as a mother and grandmother to many others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother James Hochstedler; sons Garry and Scott Reiber; and granddaughter Carrie Day-Joyce.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Centenary United Methodist Church with Reverend Mark Schutt officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery. The body will lie in state Thursday from 10:00 AM-8:00 PM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 PM, and at the church one hour preceding the funeral. A family prayer service will be at 10:15 AM Friday at the church. A memorial has been established for Breast Cancer Research with the funeral home in charge.
