Barry Alan Jung, 64 years of age, of Plymouth passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Buffet Cancer Center in Omaha after battling cancer for 6 years. He was born on December 12, 1954 in Ft. Morgan, Colorado to Robert and Loretta (Schroeder) Jung. Barry graduated from Sterling High School in Sterling, Colorado in 1973. In 1974, he moved to Plymouth and began working at the Farmers Cooperative. Barry worked there for the past 45 years where he was presently the manager of the fertilizer department. On March 22, 1975, Barry married his lifelong partner of 44 years, Donna Nispel. To this union, 2 boys were born. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth where he served on the cemetery committee and was a past member of the church council. Barry was also a past member of the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department where he was one of the first 3 EMT’s in Plymouth and the Plymouth Village Board. He was an avid sports fan and loved playing golf.
Barry is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Bruce Jung and Jennifer Rupprecht of Fairbury, Brian Jung and wife Stacie of Lincoln; mother, Loretta Smith of Beatrice; brother, Wayne Jung of Torrance, California; sister, Ann Walburn and husband Brad of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Marcia Nispel of Beatrice; aunts, cousins, niece and nephews; and his grandpuppy Libbie, who he loved having on his lap. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Jung in 1972; and parents-in-law, Art Nispel in 1983 and Ella Nispel in 2018.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 15, 2019 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth with Pastor Fred Berger officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery near Plymouth. A family prayer service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at the church. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM Saturday and 11 AM to 4 PM Sunday at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Plymouth with the family greeting friends from 4 to 6 PM Saturday.
