HASTINGS – The Wilber-Clatonia football team continued its run of dominance Friday with a 45-15 blowout of Hastings St. Cecilia.
The Wolverine defense struck early with Mitchel Whittington returning an interception 45 yards for a touchdown on St. Cecilia’s opening drive for the first points of the game.
An 8-yard touchdown run by Coltin Rezabek and a 9-yard touchdown pass from Michael Pulliam to Tad Moldenhauer made it a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.
St. Cecilia finally got on the board with a four yard run by Grant Farmer but touchdown runs by Cooper Bates and Joe Kubicek pushed Wilber-Clatonia’s lead to 35-7 at halftime. In the second half they added a 23-yard field goal by Josh Kalkwarf and a 3-yard run by Spencer Thompson on their way to the blowout.
Pulliam had a solid night throwing the ball for the Wolverines, completing 9 of 12 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. Hunter Cerveny lead the rushing attack with nine carries for 91 yards and Rezabek added 60 yards on 13 carries.
Wilber-Clatonia improves to 2-0 to start the season and will be on the road again next week at Elmwood-Murdock. Hastings St. Cecilia falls to 0-2 and has another tough matchup next week at Sutton.
