Waverly Shuts Down Nebraska City on Homecoming

WAVERLY – The Waverly Vikings were able to put a shutout on the scoreboard to celebrate their homecoming festivities.

Allowing only 16 yards passing and only 106 yards of total offense, the Vikings topped Nebraska City 41-0.

Rhett Jordan was able to score three times in the first half. The first two were through the air, hitting Jay Adams and Dylan Lovell. The third came late in the second quarter, as Jordan ran it in from 13 yards out. Waverly led 21-0 at the halftime break.

The star of the second half proved to be senior Hunter Lee. All five of his carries came in the final two quarters, finishing with 76 yards and three touchdowns.

The bright spot for the Pioneers came from Jace Becker. He ran for 68 yards on 14 carries.

Nebraska City (0-5) will next travel to Norris. The matchup with the Titans will air live on NCN 21 television.

Waverly (3-2) will take on Elkhorn next Friday.
