Syracuse trying to qualify for state volleyball for the first time in five years

FIRTH – The No. 6 Syracuse volleyball team will play for the Class C1-6 District Final on Saturday vs. No. 11 Malcolm. The time and location is yet to be determined.

The Rockets claimed the C1-1 Sub-District Championship on Tuesday with a 25-18, 26-24, 25-20 (3-1) victory over Fairbury at Norris High School.

Jessie Moss rallied for five straight points at the service line in the second set to help Syracuse comeback from a 21-17 deficit. The Rockets would score four of the next five points to take the set.

With a win Saturday, Syracuse (25-3) would advance to the Nebraska School Activities Association State Volleyball Championships for the first time since 2013.

Fairbury finishes the season 19-13.
