Orangemen Tennis Team Earn Co-Championship Of The River Cities Conference Tournament

OMAHA – The Beatrice boy’s tennis team earned the River Cities Conference co-championship, splitting the title with Omaha Skutt.  Both the Orangemen and Skyhawks finished with 26-team points at the Koch Tennis Center in Omaha on Monday.

Number-one singles player, Taylor Satterfield, placed 2nd.  In his match against Mount Michael, Satterfield overcame leg cramps and rallied from a three-game deficit to win 8-5.

At number-two singles, Dylan Steffens won decisively in every match except one to also finish 2nd.

The number-one doubles team of Dillon Damme and Sam Steffen earned a runner-up medal.  Trailing 7-4 and one game away from losing against Omaha Gross, the Beatrice duo rallied to send the match into a tie-break, which the Orangemen won, 7-5.

The number-two doubles team of Jeff Sullinger and Christian Heil won a match, but had to forfeit the final two matches of the day due to injuries.

The Orangemen tennis team will face Waverly in a dual on Thursday at the Nebraska Tennis Center, before competing in the Elkhorn South Invitational this Friday.
