LINCOLN – The Beatrice boy’s tennis team placed 6th in the eight-team Waverly Invite Friday at the Nebraska Tennis Center in Lincoln. The Orangemen scored a team-total 28-points, which was just one point behind host Waverly and 17-points better than 7th place Nebraska City.
Elkhorn South won the team title, finishing 11-points better than 2nd place York and 15-points in front of 3rd place Omaha Skutt.
For Beatrice, Dylan Steffens placed 3rd at number-two singles by going 3-1 in match play, while number-one singles player Taylor Satterfield finished 4th.
The Orangemen doubles teams of Sam Steffen, Dillon Damme, Jeff Sullinger and Christian Heil both placed 5th in the tournament.
The Beatrice Orangemen tennis team competes in the Kearney Catholic Invitational on Tuesday.
