OMAHA – Senior quarterback, Cooper Blum, rushed for three touchdowns and scored on a 60-yard fumble recovery on defense to lead Beatrice past Omaha Roncalli, 40-7, Friday night in Omaha.
Senior Dalton Hartig was “special” on special teams, returning a punt 45-yards for a touchdown for the Orangemen’s first score of the game. Hartig also returned the kickoff to start the second half 73-yards to set up a Beatrice touchdown several plays later.
Blum rushed for 96-yards and three touchdowns, including a 66-yard breakaway to give the Orangemen a 13-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter. Jacob Pinkerton rushed 13-times for 88-yards, including a 25-yard touchdown run late in the first half that gave Beatrice a 20-0 lead. Blum added a one-yard plunge into the end zone with just 22-seconds remaining in the second quarter to give the Orangemen a 27-0 halftime lead.
Hartig caught six passes for 32-yards, while Cameron Jurgens had three receptions for 46-yards. Will Crandall, who forced the fumble that Blum ran back 60-yards for a score late in the game, had two catches for 25-yards.
Beatrice improved to 4-1 on the season, and returns home this Friday night to play host to South Sioux City.
