BOYS: O’NEILL (10-1) 73, AINSWORTH (1-11) 32
A young, under-sized Ainsworth team was no match for the #4 team in Class C1, as O’Neill rolled to a 73-32 win on Thursday. The Eagles looked inside early and often, getting 19 points out of 6’6” senior Tyler Regan. Regan was one of four Eagles in double-figures, along with Jake Young (11), Wyatt Liewer (10) and Justin Appleby (10). The Bulldogs did get some offense late from sophomore Grady Delimont, as he scored 12 of his 15 points after the break, but it wasn’t meant to be as Ainsworth falls to 1-11 on the year, while O’Neill improves to 10-1.
GIRLS: O’NEILL (6-5) 63, AINSWORTH (1-11) 31
The O’Neill girls ended a two-game losing streak with an impressive 63-31 victory over Ainsworth. The Eagles pressed the young Bulldogs team early, leading to 19 first half turnovers and 29 for the game. Offensively, O’Neill’s stellar ball movement led to three players in double figures, led by Samantha Eicrhelberger’s 12 points. Payton Birkel added 11 points to go along with seven rebounds, while Makayla Pardon finished with 10. Ainsworth freshman Miah Wiebelhaus led all scorers with 17 points.
