Norris Falls To Pius, Will Still Play For Championship

LINCOLN – The Norris baseball team is no longer unbeaten at the state tournament after falling to Lincoln Pius X 5-1 on Thursday.

The Titans were only able to manage three hits in the game, with two of those coming from Drew Reetz. Pius pitcher Tyler Crouse silenced the Norris bats with the only run coming in the fourth inning when Reetz doubled, advanced to third on a sacrifice, then scored on a wild pitch. Crouse struck out eight batters while walking none.

Pius did most of their damage in a four run fifth inning when they were able to string together three hits, two walks and two batters hit by pitches.

With Norris losing there are three one-loss teams remaining on the final day of the double elimination tournament after Omaha Skutt eliminated Gretna 7-2. Pius and Skutt will face off in an elimination game Friday morning at Haymarket park with the winner then facing Norris for a state championship.
