BEATRICE – The top seeds took care of business on the first day of the 89th annual MUDECAS Basketball Tournaments with the top four seeds winning every game in both the girls A and B Divisions.
In the A Division, Exeter-Milligan started off the night with a 54-37 victory over Diller-Odell. Their semifinal opponent will be Meridian, which stayed unbeaten with a 51-40 win over Tri County. The other half of the bracket saw Falls City Sacred Heart remain unbeaten by racing past Freeman 49-30 while Bruning-Davenport/Shickley had no trouble with Johnson-Brock 48-31.
Thursday’s semifinals will have Exeter-Milligan against Meridian at 3:30 at the City Auditorium, followed by Sacred Heart vs. BDS. Both pairings are rematches of the 2017 A Division semifinals.
In the B Division, top seed Sterling blew out Parkview Christian 56-13 while Pawnee City overcame a halftime deficit to turn away Johnson County Central 34-24. HTRS dispatched Lewiston 52-11 and Southern blew out Palmyra 60-35.
The B Division semis Thursday will pit HTRS against Southern at 3:30 at Southeast Community College, followed by Sterling vs. Pawnee City.
