CLASS A

1. Millard West, 13-1, 1

2. Omaha Marian, 14-2, 2

3. Gretna, 11-3, 4

4. Lincoln Southeast, 10-1, 9

8. Papillion-La Vista, 10-5, 8

9. Bellevue West, 11-4, 10

10. Kearney, 10-5, 7

COMMENTS: Little movement, despite a couple of notable losses down the stretch. Millard West stays on top after a 1-0 loss to Millard South because of its body of work. The Wildcats were the best team in the class all season, and own a 3-0 win over second-ranked Marian. Lincoln Southeast makes a leap after knocking off Lincoln Southwest 2-0. Kearney slips after winning a shootout against Lincoln East and falling in a shootout to a Lincoln North Star (7-8) in the same day. The Bearcats’ five losses have come by a combined five goals.

CLASS B

1. Elkhorn South, 11-4, 1

2. Omaha Skutt, 12-2, 3

3. Omaha Mercy, 11-4, 2

4. North Platte, 14-2, 4

5. Columbus Scotus, 11-3, 5

6. Omaha Roncalli, 10-5, 9

7. Omaha Duchesne, 11-5, 6

8. Omaha Gross, 9-5, 7

9. Elkhorn, 8-8, 8

10. Bennington, 12-3, 10

COMMENTS: Plenty of results between ranked opponents last week had an immediate impact in the final regular season ratings. Skutt come from behind to beat Mercy in the River Cities Conference tournament final, causing the two to switch spots near the top. Roncalli beat both Duchesne and Gross in the same tournament, pushing the Pride ahead of those two. Elkhorn edged Bennington 2-1 in the Eastern Midlands Conference semifinal to stay ahead of the Badgers.

Boys

1. Kearney, 15-0, 1

10. Millard West, 8-8, NR

CLASS A

1. Kearney, 15-0, 1

2. Omaha South, 16-1, 2

3. Omaha Creighton Prep, 14-2, 3

4. Lincoln Southwest, 11-2, 4

5. Gretna, 12-1, 5

6. Grand Island, 8-5, 6

7. Lincoln East, 10-3, 7

8. Papillion-La Vista, 12-5, 9

9. Omaha Burke, 11-3, NR,

10. Millard West, 8-8, NR

COMMENTS: No change at the top, where defending champion Kearney is the last remaining unbeaten team in the state. South holds on at No. 2 despite a loss Friday to third-ranked Prep. The teams split their two season meetings and Prep had a loss to new No. 10 Millard West earlier in the week. The Wildcats are back in the ratings after wins last week over Prep, Omaha Central (who falls out for the first time this season) and Elkhorn South in a week’s span.

CLASS B

1. South Sioux City, 12-4, 1

2. Omaha Skutt, 9-4, 2

3. Lexington, 10-2, 3

4. Omaha Gross, 11-4, 7

5. Columbus, 10-3, 4

6. Columbus Scotus, 11-4, 6

7. Norris, 9-3, 8

8. Crete, 10-2, 5

9. Blair, 12-4, 9

10. Omaha Roncalli, 10-5, NR

COMMENTS: A second-half comeback win in the River Cities Conference on Thursday keeps South Sioux City ahead of the Skutt team the Cardinals beat for the title. Omaha Gross jumps back into the top four after winning six of seven to close the regular season. The lone setback in that stretch is a 1-0 loss to South Sioux City. Crete slips after a loss to Norris, which promptly followed that up with a loss to a 4-10 Nebraska City team. If the last two weeks were any indication, this week’s Sub-District tournaments and Saturday’s District Finals could produce chaos.
