Lierman Leads Northwest to Sweep of Aurora Invitational, While Jurgens and Leners Leads Beatrice to Runner-Up

AURORA – The Northwest Vikings boys track team just held off the Beatrice Orangemen in a two point victory at the Aurora Invitational on Wednesday.

138 points was just enough to get the victory in the boys competition, with Beatrice falling just short having 136.

Tanner Lierman had a huge day for the Vikings. He would finish in first place in three events, including the 110 meter hurdles, the 300 meter hurdles and he was a part 4×400 meter relay team.

Cam Jurgens and Kyle Leners helped lead the Orangemen to the runner-up finish. Jurgens won the shot put by nearly seven feet and the discus by almost 16.

Leners would win three events for Beatrice in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, and the long jump.

Northwest also placed first in the girls competition, scoring 140, holding off Aurora’s 118.5 and Beatrice’s 77.5.

The Lady Vikings earned first place finishes from Maddison Bahe (1600 meter run), Michaela Stump (300 meter hurdles), the 4×100 meter relay team and Kelsey Placke (high jump).

Aurora had a lot of girls place first place in their runner-up finish including Emily Standage (800 meter run), Jonna Bart (3200 meter run), Keri Oswald (pole vault) and the 4×400 and 4×800 meter relay teams.

Addie Barnard won the triple jump for the Beatrice Lady O.
