WYMORE – Southeast Community College commit, Jayse Koehler, had a game-high 13 points and the Johnson-Brock girls basketball team advanced to the Class D1-2 Sub-District championship game with a 40-24 victory over Pawnee City Tuesday at Southern High School in Wymore.
Junior Logan Edwards and sophomore Jordan Koehler each chipped in 8 points.
The Indians were led by junior Becca Martin and sophomore Austin Branch who each finished with 8 points. Branch also snagged 6 rebounds.
“Shooting woes plagued us all season, but I’m proud of every other aspect of this game,” Pawnee City Head Coach Dani Niss said. “The first two games against J-B we gave up 60. Tonight, we held them to under their season average. Our girls played very good defense against a more experienced team.”
The Indians close the season with a record of 6-17.
“We are looking ahead to next year and ready to get back to work,” Niss said.
The No. 1 seed Eagles (15-8) will play No. 2 Diller-Odell (14-10) at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
