Fairbury Girls, Thayer Central Boys Win Southern Nebraska Conference Cross Country Championship

GENEVA – Despite the poor weather, the Fairbury Lady Jeffs and the Thayer Central Titans were crowned the SNC Cross Country Champions on Thursday.

Fairbury held off second place Wilber-Clatonia with a total score of 28. That was behind three top five finishers in Shaye Stall (21:22, 2nd), Emily Burkley (22:12, 4th) and Lilibeth Estrada (22:43, 5th). Their other finishers included Autumn Branson (23:53, 17th) and Darby Paulsen (34:47, 39th).

In the boys side, it was Thayer Central taking home first place with a score of 27. Milford finished a close second with 31. The Titans had four top ten runners in Aubrey Fangmeier (18:33, 3rd), Damian Stewart (18:55, 6th), Dylan Fischer (19:03, 8th) and Keegan Casey (19:12, 10th). Also finishing for Thayer Central were Evan Fugelstad (19:51, 19th) and Collin Fink (20:13, 22nd).

Ashley Kroese of Milford and Chandler Schelkopf of Fillmore Central finished in first place in their respective races.
