Fairbury Dominates Home Invitational, Allows Only Two Runs in Three Games

FAIRBURY – The Fairbury Jeffs added on to their hot start to the 2017 season with a three game sweep over the weekend.

In their home invitational, the Jeffs had no troubles with Friend, Freeman and Grand Island Northwest.

In game one, Fairbury ended things early with an 11-1 win over the Bulldogs. Macy Ohlde led the Jeffs with two hits, including a double, home run and three RBIs. Sydney Miller also contributed a double and two RBIs.

Game two featured a matchup with the Freeman Falcons. That contest also ended early. Fairbury topped Freeman, 8-0, in five innings of play. Cora DeBoer went deep twice, and also added two runs and two RBIs. Sarah McCown, Jaelle Johnson and Ohlde each added a double.

In the final contest, Northwest was able to make it all seven innings, but only managed to get one run across. In their 6-1 victory, the Jeffs got three hits apiece from McCown and Johnson.

Fairbury will host Auburn on Tuesday. They are now 8-3 on the year.
