WYMORE, NE – After a half an hour rain delay, the Elmwood-Murdock golf team finished the Southern Raider Invite with three golfers in the top-ten and the Knights claimed the team title Tuesday in Wymore.

Elmwood-Murdock shot a combined 342 and outpaced Milford (349), Johnson County Central (355), and Falls City (365).

The Thunderbirds were led by Kole Kleespies fifth place finish at 85 strokes, and Tyler Bartels 87, good enough for tenth place.

“Our back nine scores were either even, or up to 5 strokes greater (than the front nine), and we shot 17 strokes higher coming in,” according to JCC Coach Ben Swanson. “Many of our players’ scores were negatively affected by out of bounds penalties, which is always frustrating.”

Grant Nanninga shot an 85, good enough for fourth place, to lead HTRS. Falls City was led by the seventh place finish by Aaron Kurpgeweit, who shot an 87.
