HEBRON – The Diller-Odell football team stayed unbeaten Friday with a 38-6 victory over Thayer Central.
Thayer Central moved the ball effectively on its opening possession, but the offense sputtered and a turnover on downs stopped one of their best chances to score. Diller-Odell responded by marching down the field and Ryan Arnold tossed a short pass to Bryston Warren that Warren took 39 yards for a touchdown.
The Griffins scored again quickly when Arnold came up with an interception that he returned all the way to the 5-yard line to set up a William McLaughlin touchdown run. Arnold did it himself early in the second quarter when he took a snap on 3rd and 25 and ran 57 yards for a score. McLaughlin then scored again to make it 30-0 heading into halftime.
The Griffins extended the lead in the third quarter on a six yard touchdown by Tucker Martin. Thayer Central was able to get on the board with under three minutes remaining when backup quarterback Logan Wiedel found Seth Mumford for a 52 yard touchdown.
Diller-Odell improves to 3-0 to start the season and will return home next week to face Johnson-Brock. Thayer Central falls to 1-2 and will host Kenesaw next week.
