LINCOLN, NE – The Johnson-Brock volleyball team may have lost the D1-1 District Championship Thursday, but thanks to a strong regular season schedule and a spot a-top the power point standings, the Eagles secured the #1 seed in next week’s state championships.
Nebraska School Activities Association officials released brackets Saturday for the 2016 State Volleyball Tournament Nov. 10-12 in Lincoln.
Johnson-Brock (28-4) will square off against #8 Blue Hill (22-9) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The match will be played at Lincoln East High School. The winner advances to Friday’s semifinals at 11:00 a.m. Semifinal matches are played at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Last season, the Eagles defeated Diller-Odell in the D1 title game, leading to their first state championship in 22 years. They were the lower seed in each of their state tournament wins, coming in as the fifth overall seed.
