(Peru, Neb.) – A near-school record performance on the second day helped keep the Peru State women’s golf team in fourth place out of 11 teams in the Midland/College of St. Mary Fall Invitational.
The Bobcats’ top five golfers shot a team-total 332 on the second day on the Miracle Hill Golf Course in Omaha which tied them for the second-best team total Wednesday. The 332 total was only two off the school record which has been shot on two different occasions with the last time being last March.
Morningside (Iowa) won the event with a team total of 674. Briar Cliff (Iowa) was second with a total of 683 while Mount Marty (S.D.) was third with a team score of 684. Peru State finished easily in fourth with a two-day total of 694 having only had a one-shot lead over the fifth-place team after Tuesday’s round.
Jessica Weickert (Beatrice) finished in second, just two shots behind the winner. Weickert had rounds of 82 and 79 for a two-day total of 161. Also medaling was Marisa Pribnow (Lincoln) who finished in a tie for fifth with a score of 166. Pribnow had rounds of 86 and 80.
Peru State has one more fall tournament which will be held Oct. 9 and 10 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. William Penn will be the host of the two-day invitational.
