FAIRBURY – The Beatrice and Fairbury American Legion baseball teams split a Juniors-Seniors double-header on Friday night in Fairbury.
In the Seniors game, Cayman DeBoer drove in four runs with a homerun and double to lead the Fairbury Land Sharks to an 11-1 win over the Beatrice Exmark Seniors.
Zach Holes added a pair of hits, including a double and two RBI, while Tanner Novotny had two hits and scored twice for Fairbury, who finished with eleven runs on eight hits.
Keyten Pfingsten picked up the win, pitching four shutout innings on one hit, while striking out three for Fairbury, who improved to 6-11.
Caleb Wallman had a double and scored the only run for Beatrice, who fell to 3-8 on the season.
In the Juniors game, Devin Smith finished with a game-high three hits and five RBI to lead the Beatrice Neapco Juniors to an 11-6 victory over Fairbury.
Will Reimer, Brody Nelson and Joe Wallman all had a pair of hits, while Zack Zimmerman blasted a solo homerun for Beatrice, who finished with eleven hits in the game.
Zane Hoffman pitched a complete game, allowing six runs on eight hits, while striking out five for Beatrice, who improved to 9-4 on the season.
Brody Kroll, Joe Melcher and Bill Humphrey all had a pair of hits for the Fairbury Juniors, who fell to 10-2.
