YORK – The quest for a trip to Hastings begins Thursday with the area district softball tournaments.
York earned the top seed for the district taking place at their home tournament. Crete is the highest seed out of Southeast Nebraska schools. The #3 Cardinals will play #6 Beatrice at 10 a.m. on Thursday. #2 Seward will play #7 Norris following at 12 p.m. The winners will meet at 2 p.m.
In the C-1 District at Auburn, Conestoga has earned the top seed and will play the winner of #4 Falls City and #5 Ashland-Greenwood. #3 Cass County Central will play #6 Syracuse at 10 a.m., while #2 Auburn will play #7 Freeman at 12 p.m.
In one of the most competitive districts in the state, Fairbury earned the #2 seed at Raymond Central’s Valparaiso Ball Fields. Top seeded Malcolm earned a bye. The Jeffs will play #7 Wilber-Clatonia at 12:45 p.m. They topped the Wolverines on Tuesday, 15-5. The winner of that contest will play the winner of #3 Raymond Central and #6 Milford. The other matchup of the tournament will be #4 Aquinas Catholic vs. #5 Southern at 11 a.m.
#3 Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan will battle #6 Friend in the first round at Twin River’s Genoa City Park. The winner will play the winner of #2 Twin River and #7 Blue Hill.
