NORFOLK – In a game that saw lots of hard-nosed running, it was Battle Creek’s ability to pass the ball that led them past rival Lutheran High NE on Friday.
Braves quarterback Josh Schick was 5-of-5 passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns as Battle Creek routed the Eagles 49-6. Both of Schick’s passes went to wideout Stone Kraft, who was named the Set the Bar Player of the Game, catching three balls total for 127 yards.
Battle Creek was strong on the ground as well. Wyatt Hamer rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Weston Johnson added 88 more yards and another score.
Lutheran High’s Hunter Spier finished with 112 yards rushing and the Eagles’ only score, a 64-yard scamper in the first half. Overall, LHNE was limited to just 178 total yards of offense.
Battle Creek improves to 6-1 ahead of a big district match-up with Crofton next week. Lutheran High slip to 4-3. They’ll travel to Ponca for their Week 8 game.
